This is the abstract of a study by Lucas Chancel and Thomas Piketty, "Carbon and Inequality: From Kyoto to Paris," published on November 3, 2015. This study analyzes the evolution of inequality in CO2e emissions (CO2 and other greenhouse gases) between individuals globally from 1998 to 2013. We use these results to construct and examine different financing strategies for global climate adaptation funds based on the principle of fairness among individuals rather than between countries.  

To this end, the study combines historical data on the evolution of income inequality within countries with data on emissions related to national consumption (thus including imports and exports of CO2e). Use a simple law to link individual income and emissions in each country. Our data covers approximately 90% of the population, GDP and global CO2e emissions. The results depend not only on income inequality within countries but also on changes in consumption-related emissions between countries. The study shows that global inequality in CO2e emissions between phone number list  individuals has decreased from 1998 to the present due to the rise of middle and affluent classes in emerging countries and the relative stagnation of income and carbon emissions.
