I once worked for six months before finding out that my client had established voice and messaging guidelines. I had modeled my work on their published work, so I intuitively picked up on many of the guidelines, but seeing them typed clearly made a big difference in my ability to meet and exceed their expectations. Solution: Equip freelancers with brand guidelines, posts, examples of similar work, and more. If possible, invite them to the office to meet the people they will associate with.
At the very least, schedule a kick-off call. (With trusted freelancers, consider giving them access to view your living, evolving documents around your guidelines, etc.) Be nice to your freelancers and they will be nice to you Each Country Email List party has responsibilities in the freelance-content marketing manager relationship. Entrepreneurs should proactively ask for answers, brand guidelines, creative briefs and more if they are not offered.
Managers must ensure they keep freelancers trained and well-equipped with the tools, access, and information they need to succeed. After all, most guns aren't just looking for the organization that will pay the most. They want to care about the work they do; they want to trust; they want adequate turnaround times; they want their work to be valued; and they want customers who are organized and easy to work with. These are the same things we all look for in a workplace.
