The above-mentioned exposure of printing forms takes place in platesetters. You can also come across a different use of these platesetters, namely the exposure of plastic plates in offset technology. The CtP method is a technology that is constantly being developed and adapted to the prevailing needs. At the same time, it is becoming more image manipulation service and more popular, as its use can be found in medium-sized printing houses, as well as in companies specializing in this technology and providing services on a large scale. You should also distinguish between two similar concepts - CtP and CtPress. The latter is a technique consisting in making a printing plate on a printing press. CtP can also be found in the offset technique.



Here we can distinguish several plates printing forms): thermo- and photopolymer, hot-melt and thermo-decomposable, process-free, photosensitive, having a drawing made by spraying and receiving paint, presensitized, in need of chemical treatment after the irradiation process. Exposure to the above. plates are held in special platesetters, each adapted to a separate type of plates.  What is the platesetter used in the CtP process? It is used to apply an image using the optical method. This image is applied to the printing form. There are several types of devices: laser plates for exposure of cliches (used in CtF technology), laser for exposing flat printing forms (used in CtP technology), LED, used in CtPress technology.
